Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Loosen clamp (2) and remove hose (3) from breather tube (1). Withdraw hose (3) from clip (4) and remove the hose.

Remove bolts (6) and remove breather tube (1) from valve mechanism cover (5).
Remove O-ring seal (7) and O-ring seal (8) from breather tube (1). Disassembly Procedure

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.Spring force will be released when covers are removed.Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.
Remove plastic cover (9) from valve mechanism cover (5).
Remove screws (10). Remove plate (11).
Remove assembly of diaphragm (12) and the cap (13). Remove spring (14).

If necessary, remove the shut off valvefrom the valve mechanism cover (5). Follow Steps 4.a through 4.c in order to remove the shut off valve from the valve mechanism cover.
Remove the valve mechanism cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install".
Remove bolts (15) from shut off valve assembly (16).
Remove shut off valve assembly (16) from the valve mechanism cover (5). Assembly Procedure

If necessary, install shut off valve assembly to the valve mechanism cover (5). Follow Steps 1.a through 1.f in order to install shut off valve assembly to the valve mechanism cover.
Ensure that all components of the shut off valve assembly are clean and free from damage. Replace any components that are damaged.
The ball in shut off valve assembly (13) must be free to move.
Install shut off valve assembly (16) to the valve mechanism cover (5).
Install bolts (15) to shut off valve assembly (17).
Use Tooling (A) to tighten bolts (15) to a torque of 1.3 N m (12 lb in).
Install the valve mechanism cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install".

Ensure that all components of the crankcase breather are clean and free from damage. Replace any components that are damaged.
Install spring (14) to the valve mechanism cover. Install assembly of diaphragm (12) and cap (13). Note: Ensure that the diaphragm is fully seated into the groove of the valve mechanism cover.
Position plate (11) on valve mechanism cover (5) and install screws (10).
Use Tooling (A) to tighten screws (10) to a torque of 1.3 N m (12 lb in).
Install plastic cover (9) to valve mechanism cover (5). Installation Procedure
