Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Rotate speed dial (4) to the MINIMUM position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.
Move travel mode switch (3) to the PAVE position.Note: The machine must be in PAVE mode in order to operate the screed lift system, the hopper system, the apron system, and the auger lift system.

Move screed lift switch (5) to the FLOAT position. Allow the screed to lower to the ground.Note: The screed lift switch on the inactive operator station must also be in the FLOAT position in order to lower the screed.
After the screed rests on the ground, move screed lift switch (5) to the HOLD position.

Move throttle control switch (6) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.

Move engine start switch (7) to the OFF position.

Remove seven Torx screws (9) from the instrument panel. Lift the instrument panel in order to access the wiring and components of the instrument panel.

Disconnect signal cable (11) from the left conveyor speed ratio potentiometer connector (10) .
Insert red spoon from Tool (B) into contact "C" (N701-PK) of potentiometer connector (10). Connect red spoon to Tool (A) .
Insert black spoon from Tool (B) into contact "B" (K727-GY) of potentiometer connector (10). Connect black spoon to Tool (A) .

Rotate left conveyor speed ratio dial (12) to the MINIMUM position.
Set Tool (A) to read "Ohms".
Value on Tool (A) should be 0 to 1 ohms.
Slowly, steadily rotate left conveyor speed ratio dial (12) to the MAXIMUM position. Observe reading on Tool (A). The value should steadily increase as the dial is moved to the maximum range. The value should not stop increasing until the dial reaches the maximum stop. When the dial is against the maximum stop, value on Tool (A) should be 975 50 ohms.
Move left conveyor speed ratio dial (12) to the MINIMUM position.
If the measurements in Step 17 and Step 18 were within the specified range, the sensor is functioning properly. Go to Step 21. If the measurements in Step 17 and Step 18 were out of the specified range, replace the left conveyor speed ratio potentiometer. Go to Step 13.
Remove the tooling. Reconnect signal cable (11) to left conveyor speed ratio potentiometer connector (10) .
Replace the instrument panel, and replace seven Torx screws (9) .
