(7) Valve spoolTorque converter outlet relief valve (1) maintains a minimum pressure in the torque converter. The minimum pressure setting is about 290 kPa (42 psi). The outlet relief valve for the torque converter is mounted to the upper left of the torque converter housing.Oil flows into valve body (2) through inlet passage (3). The oil moves valve spool (7) against the force of springs (5). This movement allows the excess oil to flow through outlet passage (4).From the outlet relief valve, the excess oil flows to the power train oil cooler. Then, the oil flows to the lubrication circuits for the brakes and the final drives.
