Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be cleaned thoroughly to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies to prevent fluid loss, and keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Depress the button on top of the breaker relief valve in order to relieve any pressure in the hydraulic tank.

Disconnect hose assemblies (2), (3) and (4) from steering control valve (1) .

Disconnect hose assemblies (5) and (6) from steering control valve (1) .

Disconnect hose assembly (8) from steering control valve (1) .
Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to steering control valve (1). The weight of the steering control valve is approximately 21 kg (46 lb).
Remove three bolts (7) and steering control valve (1) .
