Inspect/Replace
Inspect the windshield wiper blade. Replace if it is worn or damaged, or if streaking occurs.Fill Washer Bottle
When operating in freezing temperatures, use Caterpillar nonfreezing window washer solvent. Any commercially available nonfreezing window washer solvent can also be used.
1. The windshield washer fluid bottle is located inside the left side rear access door.Unlatch and open the door for access. 2. Remove the window washer fill cap.3. Fill with window washer fluid.4. Install the fill cap.5. Closs and latch the access door. 6. The washer nozzle may be turned to spray in the desired direction.Bucket Tips and Side Cutters
Replace if Damaged
Block the bucket before changing bucket tips or side cutters.Block the clamshell bucket in the open position.
Bucket Tips
Replace the bucket tip when a wear-hole appears.Backhoe Bucket
Clamshell Bucket
Open and support the bucket. 1. Drive the pin out of the tip from the retainer side of the tip. Remove the tip and the retainer. 2. Clean the adapter, pin and retainer. Install the retainer in the groove in the side of the adapter. 3. Install the new or rotated tip over the adapter. The tip may be rotated 180° for more or less penetration while digging. 4. Drive the pin through the tip adapter and retainer from the other side of the retainer.
After driving the pin, check to be sure that the retainer is snugly fitted into the groove of the pin.
Side Cutters
1. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the side cutters. 2. Some side cutters may be rotated for additional wear. Clean the mounting surfaces. Install the new or rotated cutters.Tracks
Check/Adjustment
Grease is under high pressure.Grease coming out of the relief valve under pressure can penetrate the body causing injury or death.Do not watch the relief valve to see if grease is escaping. Watch the track or track adjustment cylinder to see if the track is being loosened.Loosen the relief valve one turn only.If track does not loosen, close the relief valve and contact your Caterpillar dealer.
