This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS5485" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the April 6, 1999 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Affected Product.

Field reports indicate that the transmission shift control may be causing shifting problems, missed shifts and inability to go into gear on certain 120H, 135H, 12H, 140H, 143H, 160H, 163H and 24H Motor Graders.

Parts Stock
Remove all 8C5337 Transmission Control Groups from dealer Parts Stock.
Affected Product
1. Remove seat assembly by removing bolt located on front of base between slides.2. Remove 4 bolts from top cover and remove cover.3. Remove 6 bolts from front cover and remove cover.4. Remove 2 heater and A/C knobs from the top of the side panel cover. Remove 2 bolts and communications plug cap from cover if applicable. Remove side cover.5. Place shift handle in neutral, remove 4 bolts that hold the shift controller to the control panel and remove shift knob from shift knob lever.6. Remove allen head bolt in electrical socket and disconnect from shift control.7. Disconnect parking brake control air valve assembly from shift control.8. Remove shift controller through left side of shift console.9. Install new controller, see "Install Parking Braking Control Air Valve Assembly" instructions found in the Disassembly and Assembly Manual.Service Claim Allowances

This is a 1.5-hour job.
If there has been a previous repair part age/hours will apply. Retain a copy of the previous repair invoice in the dealer's records for audit purposes, and specify repair date and machine hours in the "Additional Comments" section of the warranty claim.
