Working with electrical circuits is hazardous and exposes personnel to electrical potential. To ensure safe operation, personnel must be trained in proper operating procedures. Bodily contact with electrical potential will cause serious personal injury or death.
High voltage is present. Work on this equipment must be performed by authorized trained personnel. Personnel must be wearing Personal Protective Equipment that meets regulatory requirements to protect the body for the work that is being performed. Failure to use appropriate PPE to protect the body will result in serious personal injury or death.
To avoid electric shock, ensure that the inverter is disconnected from all voltage sources before performing any maintenance to avoid electrical shock.
The inverter should be checked regularly for any external visible damage. Clean the enclosure lid, the display, and LEDs using a soft cloth and clean water.There are several parts to cleaning the inverter:
Fan guards
Ventilation grids
DC disconnect (if applicable)
Heat sinkFan Guards - Clean (If Applicable)

Example of fan guard locations
(1) Fan guardsClean the inverter fan guards when required, or if the fans make any unusual noises. Check the inverter fan guards for dirt or debris buildup. Refer to the following steps if the inverter fan guards need to be cleaned:
Ensure that the fan has stopped rotating after disconnecting all voltage sources from the inverter.
Locate and remove the fan guard from the enclosure.
Clean the fan guard with a soft brush or a damp cloth.
Replace the fan guard in the proper location on the enclosure.
Repeat Step 2 to Step 4 for any additional fan guards.Note: Components will be located in a different position depending on the inverter. Refer to the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, M0074783, "Photovoltaic Inverters" for further information.Ventilation Grids - Clean (If Applicable)
Do not remove the ventilation grids permanently. Place the ventilation grids back on the inverter enclosure after cleaning. This prevents dirt and debris from collecting inside the enclosure.

(2) Ventilation gridsLocate and clean the ventilation grids regularly to maintain efficient heat dissipation. Remove the grids from the inverter enclosure and use a soft brush or compressed air to clean the surface. Replace the ventilation grids. Ensure that the grids have been placed on the correct sides of the inverter. Refer to the markings on the interior of each ventilation grid.DC Disconnect - Clean (If Applicable)
Some inverters have a DC Disconnect component installed internally.Check for external damage and discoloration of the DC disconnect and cables. Contact the installer if any conditions have been noted.Clean the contacts of the rotary switch to prolong the electrical endurance of the DC disconnect. Turn the rotary switch of the DC disconnect from the ON position to the OFF position ten times in rapid succession once a year.Heat Sink - Clean (If Applicable)
The heat sink may exceed 70° C (158° F) during operation. Do not touch
