Install integral seal (7) . Apply Tooling (E) onto ring seals (8) . Install ring seals (8) . Note: Insure that ring seals (8) are fully compressed into the grooves of the rotating clutch.

Use Tooling (A) , Tooling (B) , and a suitable lifting device in order to install torque converter housing (4) . The weight of torque converter housing (4) is approximately 79 kg (175 lb).
Apply Tooling (C) onto the housing top face, the washer, and bolt (6) . Install bolt (6) . Install bolts (5) . Tighten bolts (5) and bolt (6) to a torque of 100 20 N m (73 14 lb ft).Note: Remove the excess sealant from bolt (6) , the washer, and the housing spotface.

Connect harness assembly (3) and install the connecting hardware.

Remove lip seal (1) from the packaging. Be careful not to touch the inside diameter. Inspect lip seal (1) for damage. Ensure that the spring is installed properly before installing the lip seal onto Tooling (D) . Apply a thin film of the fluid that is being sealed to the outside diameter of lip seal (1) prior to installation. Install lip seal (1) onto Tooling (D) so that the "spring open" side is oriented away from the driving face of Tooling (D) . Ensure that the sealing surface of the torque converter housing is clean and free of damage. Use Tooling (D) to install lip seal (1) in the torque converter housing. Use Tooling (D) in order to drive in the lip seal. Install lip seal (1) to the depth that is shown. A "ring" sound will indicate that the lip seal is fully seated.Note: Ensure that Tooling (D) is in good condition and free of defects. Store Tooling (D) in a VCI bag in order to prevent rust and contamination.End By:
Install the gear pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Gear Pump (Torque Converter and Transmission) - Install".
Install the torque converter. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Torque Converter - Install".
