Transmission Output Speed Sensor connectionsThe Machine Control ECM monitors the input data from various machine systems along with the signal from the Transmission Output Speed Sensor in order to determine when the machine is traveling. When the ECM determines that the machine is traveling and the transmission speed sensor signal was indicating greater than 200 rpm transmission speed but is now indicating 0 rpm for a period of 2 seconds, then a CID 0191 FMI 2 code will be activated.Possible conditions that can cause this diagnostic code are listed:
The Transmission Output Speed Sensor is not installed correctly or is loose.
There is a problem with power supply.
A short or an open in the signal circuit.
The Transmission Output Speed Sensor has failed.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.System Response:When the CID 0191 FMI 02 diagnostic code is active, the ECM response will be:
The machine "Limp Home Mode" will be activated.
The transmission will only operate in first gear.
Machine functions will be limited.Note: Before performing the following Test Steps, check to see that the speed sensor is mounted securely. If the speed sensor mount is correct and the CID 0191 FMI 02 diagnostic code is active, proceed to Test Step 1.Note: Before proceeding with this procedure, check the axis pin on the travel pedal. The retaining clip and the axis pin must be installed properly before proceeding with this procedure. Verify that the travel pedal sensitivity adjustment is correct. The procedure can be found in the hydraulic testing and adjusting manual.Test Step 1. CHECK THE POWER AT THE SENSOR
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the sensor.
Measure the voltage between the supply contact 3 (wire 308-YL) and the ground contact 1 (wire 200-BK).
Measure the voltage between the supply contact 3 (wire 308-YL) and frame ground.Expected Result:Each voltage measurement is approximately 24.0 VDC. Results:
YES - Each voltage measurement is approximately 24.0 VDC. The power circuit is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NO - One or both of the voltage measurements is not correct. There is a problem with the power supply for the sensor.Repair: If both of the voltage measurements did not measure approximately 24.0 VDC, then there is a problem with supply wire 308-YL in the machine harness.If the voltage measurement between the supply contact 3 and frame ground measured approximately 24.0 VDC but the measurement between supply contact 3 to ground contact 1 did not indicate approximately 24.0 VDC, then there is a problem in the ground circuit for the sensor.Refer to the complete machine Electrical System Schematic. Check all of the connections that are in the power supply circuit and/or the return circuit. Ensure that all connections are clean, secure and in good condition. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harnessSTOPTest Step 2. CHECK FOR AN OPEN IN THE SIGNAL CIRCUITThe machine harness connector remains disconnected from the sensor.
