Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
The engine can have the ability to auto start. Ensure that the power supply is isolated before any service or repairs is performed.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Loosen hose clamp and disconnect breather hose from the valve mechanism cover.
Remove bolts (2), washers (3) and spacers (4) from cover (1). remove the cover. If necessary, remove grommets (5) from cover (1).
If the engine has double skinned fuel lines, remove fuel injection lines. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Lines - Remove" for the correct procedure.

Remove nut (8) from terminal insulator (11).
Disconnect harness assembly (10) from terminal insulator (11).
Remove nuts (7) that secure bus bar (6) to glow plugs (9).
Remove bus bar (6) from glow plugs (9).
Remove glow plugs (9) from cylinder head. Installation Procedure

Ensure that the threads of the glow plugs are clean and free from damage. Replace any damaged glow plugs.
Install glow plugs (9) into the cylinder head. Tighten the glow plugs to a torque of 15 N m (132 lb in).
Position bus bar (6) onto glow plugs (9). Install nuts (7) onto the glow plugs. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 2 N m (17 lb in).
Connect harness assembly (10) to the stud on terminal insulator (11).
Install nut (8) to the stud on terminal insulator (11). Use Tooling (A) to tighten the nut to a torque of 6 N m (53 lb in).
If the engine has double skinned fuel lines, install fuel injection lines. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Lines - Install" for the correct procedure.

If necessary, install grommets (5) to cover (1). Install washers (3) to bolts (2), and spacers (4). Install the cover and install bolts. Tighten bolts to a torque of 22 N m (16 lb ft).
Connect breather hose to the valve mechanism cover and tighten hose clamp securely.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
