Removal Procedure
The engine can have the ability to auto start. Ensure that the power supply is isolated before any service or repairs is performed.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Remove cable straps (2) and cable straps (5).
Loosen allen head bolt (3) and disconnect harness assembly (1) from the electronic control module.
Loosen allen head bolt (4) and disconnect harness assembly (5) from the electronic control module.
Remove bolts (8) and washers (9) from electronic control module (7).
Remove electronic control module (7) from bracket (10).

If necessary, follow Step 8.a through Step 8.c in order to disassemble electronic control module (7).
Remove isolation mounts (12) and remove spacers (13).
Remove isolation mounts (11).
Remove bolts (15) and remove brackets (14) from electronic control module (7). Note the orientation of brackets (14). Installation Procedure
Ensure that the electronic control module is clean and free from damage. If necessary, replace the electronic control module.
If a replacement electronic control module is installed, the module must be programmed with the correct information. Refer to Troubleshooting Guide, "Replacing the ECM" and refer to Troubleshooting Guide, "Flash Programming" for the correct procedure.

Typical example
If necessary, follow step 3.a through step 3.c in order to assemble the electronic control module.
Position brackets (14) onto electronic control module (7). Note the orientation of brackets (14).
Install bolts (15) and tighten the bolts to a torque of 9 N m (80 lb in).
Install isolation mounts (11) to the electronic control module and install spacers (13). Install isolation mounts (12) to the electronic control module.

Install bolts (8) and washers (9) to electronic control module (7).
Install the assembly of electronic control module (7) to the mounting bracket (10). Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 22 N m (16 lb ft). Note: Ensure that the electronic control module is correctly oriented. Ensure that the ground strap is not strained as the bolt is tightened.
Connect harness assembly (1) to the electronic control module (7). Tighten allen head bolt (3) to a torque of 5 N m (3 lb ft). Note: Care must be taken in order to avoid damage to the connector pins during installation of the harness.
Connect harness assembly (6) to the electronic control module (7). Tighten the allen head bolt (4) to a torque of 5 N m (3 lb ft). Note: Care must be taken in order to avoid damage to the connector pins during installation of the harness.
Install cable straps (2) and cable straps (5) to the harness assemblies.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
