Refer to the following article.Description of Change: A new check valve assembly is used in the prechamber groups on these engines. The new check valve assembly will provide increased service life and better reliability. All of the components of the new check valve assembly are available for parts service.Adaptable To: The former 208-9649 Check Valve As and the former 171-5900 Check Valve As are cancelled and replaced by the new 253-0857 Check Valve As. The new check valve is a direct replacement for the former check valves.The new 253-0857 Check Valve As can be used in all G3600 Engines. Illustration 1 identifies the components of the new 253-0857 Check Valve As. The new check valve is effective with the serial numbers in Table 1.

The check valve assembly must be cleaned and inspected at each 5000 hour maintenance interval. If deposits build up in applications that use bio-gas, the maintenance interval must be reduced. Monitor the position of the needle valves at the maintenance intervals. If the needle valves must be opened for 7 to 10 turns, this could be an indication of a worn check valve. The check valve assembly can be cleaned and rebuilt with new components.Note: Usually, the body of the check valve assembly does not need to be replaced. If the performance of the check valve assembly is still poor after replacing the other parts, the body may need to be replaced.
