Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Hand tighten the NPT pipe nipple. Do not use tools.
Remove the tank drain plug (1). Install a 88 mm (3.50 inch) long NPT pipe nipple in order to open the internal drain valve. The outer diameter of the NPT pipe nipple should be 25.4 mm (1 inch). Drain the oil into a suitable container.
Remove the three tube assemblies from the back of the tank.

Remove the suction screen (2) for the hoist.
Remove the suction screen (3) for the torque converter.
Remove the suction screen (4) for the auxiliary brake cooling. Wash the suction screens and the bolts in clean, nonflammable solvent.
Install the clean suction screens, the tube assemblies and the clean bolts.
Fill the hoist, torque converter, and brake tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities". Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)".
Start the engine and run the engine for approximately 15 seconds. The oil level will decrease as oil fills the system.
Add oil to the tank in order to raise the oil level to the safe starting range.

Repeat Step 9 and Step 10 until the oil stabilizes in the "FULL COLD" mark in the sight gauge (5).
Lower the guard on the engine shutdown control. Start the engine. Run the engine at low idle. Inspect the machine for oil leaks and make any necessary repairs.
Check the oil level. Maintain the oil level to the "FULL WARM" mark in the sight gauge.
Raise the dump body or open the doors until the hoist cylinders are extended halfway. Lower the dump body or close the doors. Add oil, if necessary.
Raise the dump body or open the doors until the hoist cylinders are fully extended. Lower the dump body or close the doors. Add oil, if necessary.
Repeat Step 14 and Step 15 until the oil level stabilizes.
Install the filler cap.
