Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Typical example
If the engine is equipped with a turbocharger, follow Steps 1.a through 1.c in order to remove the air pipe.
Loosen hose clamps (6) and remove hose (4) .
Remove bolts (5) and remove air pipe (3) from turbocharger (1). Remove gasket (2) .
Plug the opening in the inlet manifold and the opening in the turbocharger with suitable plugs.

Loosen the hose clamp and disconnect hose (10) from valve mechanism cover (8) .
Remove bolts (7). Remove valve mechanism cover (8) from the cylinder head.
Remove seal (9) from valve mechanism cover (8) .Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Thoroughly clean the valve mechanism cover. Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head.

Install a new seal (9) to valve mechanism cover (8) .Note: Ensure that the joint is fully seated into the groove of the valve mechanism cover.
Place valve mechanism cover (8) in position on the cylinder head.
Install bolts (7). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 12 N m (106 lb in).
Connect hose (10) to valve mechanism cover (8) and tighten the hose clamp.

Typical example
If the engine is equipped with a turbocharger, follow Steps 6.a through 6.c in order to install the air pipe.
Remove the plugs from the inlet manifold and from the turbocharger.
Position a new joint (2) and air pipe (3) onto turbocharger (1). Install bolts (5). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 18 N m (13 lb ft).
Install hose (4) and tighten hose clamps (6) securely.
