4. Loosen the hose clamp, and disconnect hose (1) from the oil cooler.5. Remove hose (2) from the oil cooler and the elbow on the timing gear cover.6. Remove 10 bolts (3), cover (4) and the core assembly from the oil cooler support. 7. Remove cover (4) and the gasket from core assembly (5). Make note that it is between the fifth and sixth plate.8. Remove divider (6) from core assembly (5).
Typical Example9. Remove six bolts (7) and support (8) from the engine. 10. Remove O-ring seals (9) from support (8).11. Remove plug (13), spring (11) and valve (10) from support (8). Remove O-ring seal (12) from the plug. The following steps are for installing the oil cooler, support and bypass valve.12. Install O-ring seal (12) on plug (13). Install valve (10), spring (11) and plug (13) in support (8). Put O-ring seals (9) in position in support (8).13. Put support (8) in position on the engine, and install six bolts (7).14. Install the divider between the fifth and sixth plates from the flange and on the end opposite from the extra hole in the flange. The hole does not have the same spacing as the other holes. Install the divider with the boss on the divider on the other end, the holes from the divider must be installed evenly around the circumference of the plates so the cover will make a correct seal when it is installed.15. Install the gasket and cover (4) on the core. Install the gasket with the indexing point toward the rear of the engine and in the up position. Put the core assembly and cover (10) in position on the support, and install 10 bolts (13). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 31 4 N m (23 3 lb.ft.).16. Put hose (1) in position on cover (4), and tighten the clamp that holds it in place. Install hose (2), and tighten the hose clamps.17. Check the oil level in the engine. Fill the engine with oil to the correct level if necessary. See the Maintenance Guide.18. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See the Maintenance Guide.19. Install the plate assembly on the right side of the engine compartment.
