Assembly Procedure

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install poppet (13), spring (14), and retainer (15) in position in spool assembly (11). Install retaining ring (16).
Install spacer (12) into spool assembly (11).Note: Spacers (12) are used to adjust the pressure that is needed to open the torque converter outlet relief valve. For the correct procedure, refer to Testing and Adjusting for the machine that is being serviced.

Install O-ring seal (10) and spool assembly (11) into valve body (1).

Install cover (9) and bolts (8). Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 47 9 N m (35 7 lb ft).

Install plugs (7) and O-ring seal (5) in valve body (1).
Install spring (6).
