Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Apply Tooling (A) to the bottom of the rear housing at the junction of the cylinder block and the engine oil pan.

Use Tooling (B) to install bearing (5). Installation depth (Z) should be 2.3 0.5 mm (0.09 0.02 inch).
The joint of bearing (5) should be within location (X).

Attach a suitable lifting device to rear housing (4). The weight of rear housing (4) is approximately 84 kg (185 lb).
Position the gasket on rear housing (4).
Position rear housing (4) on the cylinder block. Install bolts (3). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft) in the numerical sequence shown in Illustration 3.
Trim the gasket between the rear housing and the cylinder block even with the bottom of the rear housing.

Install bolts (2).
Connect hose assembly (1).
Install the bolts that hold the engine oil pan to the rear housing.
Tighten all the bolts that hold the engine oil pan evenly to raise the engine oil pan into position.End By:
Install the rear gear group.
