Be careful not to cut seals during installation. Cut seals could shorten the service life of the parking brake.
Installation Instructions
Use the procedure which follows to correctly install the piston in the cylinder.
1. Lightly coat the inside bores of 116-1343 Cylinder (3), 7J-3864 Seal Ring (yellow in color) (2), 7J-3863 Seal Ring (black in color) (4), 039-8923 Wear Ring (1) and the 116-1344 Piston (5) with the oil being sealed.2. Install the black 7J-3863 Seal Ring (4) in the bottom of the groove.3. Install the yellow 7J-3864 Seal Ring (2) on top of 7J-3863 Seal Ring (4).4. Install 039-8923 Wear Ring (1) in its groove.5. Put 116-1344 Piston (5) in position in the bore. The piston should go into the bore easily until it contacts 7J-3683 Seal Ring (4) and 7J-3864 Seal Ring (2). 6. While applying downward pressure on the piston, tap the outside chamfer of the piston with a rubber or plastic hammer, working around the piston several times. The intent is to gradually work the piston into the seals.7. Install the assembly on the parking brake.
