A 1P-1853 Retaining Ring Pliers 1 Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble.
Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.
Lubricate all of the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install two O-ring seals (9) onto flow control and relief valve (5).
Install valve spring (8) and piston (7) into flow control and relief valve (5), as shown.
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Use Tool (A) in order to install retaining ring (6) onto flow control and relief valve (5).

Position flow control and relief valve (5) into valve body (1), as shown.
Use Tool (A) (not shown) to install the retaining ring in order to install flow control and relief valve (5).
Install O-ring plug (4) and the O-ring seal onto valve body (1).

Install valve assembly (3) and the gasket onto valve body (1).

Install elbow (2) and the O-ring seal onto valve body (1), as shown. End By:
Install the flow control and relief valve (rear axle oil). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Flow Control and Relief Valve (Rear Axle Oil) - Install".
