Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the expansion valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Expansion Valve - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Remove twelve bolts and washers (1) and put cover (2) out of the way.

Remove thermostat capillary tube (3) from evaporator core (4) .

Remove spring clip (5) from the flange of the evaporator core. Remove the retainer of the evaporator core.
Carefully remove evaporator core (4) from the housing.Installation Procedure

Carefully install evaporator core (4) into the housing.
Install the retainer of the evaporator core. Install spring clip (5) to the flange of the evaporator core.

Locate the thermostat capillary tube 152.4 mm (6.00 inch) from the curled end of the evaporator core (opposite end from the expansion valve). Insert the evaporator core between the first row and the second row of the tubes closest to the heater core. The total depth of the probe is 127 mm (5.0 inch).

Put cover (2) in position. Install 12 washers and bolts (1) .End By: Install the expansion valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Expansion Valve - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
