Use Tooling (E) and a suitable press to install bearing assembly (17) on pump shaft (12).
Install bearing cone (21) on the pump shaft.
Install spacer (20) and bearing cups (19) on the pump shaft.
Install bearing cone (18) on the pump shaft.

The splined end of the pump shaft is marked to indicate either RH threads or LH threads on pump shaft (12). Install bearing locknut (16). Use Tooling (D) on bearing locknut (16). Tighten bearing locknut (16) to a torque of 300 30 N m (221 22 lb ft).Note: The torque wrench must be 90 degrees to Tooling (D).
Install set screws (15) and tighten to a torque of 4 1.25 N m (35 114 lb in) in a 180° pattern then retighten to a final torque of 7.2 0.2 N m (67 1.8 lb in).

Lubricate pump shaft (12) with clean engine oil. Install the pump shaft in bearing housing (14). Install seal (13). Install retainer (10) and bolts (11). Tighten bolts (11) to a torque of 12 3 N m (106 27 lb in).
Illustration 4 g06141846Note: Do not damage the wear surfaces of the carbon ring or the ceramic ring. Do not touch the wear surfaces of the carbon ring or the ceramic ring. Install the ceramic ring with the smoothest face of the ring toward the carbon seal.
Apply Tooling (F) to the outside diameter of the ceramic seal (13). Use Tooling (G) and hand pressure to install ceramic seal (13) into the bearing housing and the shaft. Installed height should be 9.9 0.38 cm (3.9 0.15 inch).

Lubricate pump shaft (12) on bearing housing (9) with clean engine oil. Position impeller (8) on pump shaft (12).
Place bearing housing (9) on impeller (8). Use a suitable press and press pump shaft (12) into impeller (8). Install impeller (8) so the dimension between impeller (8) and pump shaft (12) is 0.000 0.15 mm (0.00000 0.0.030 inch).

Install O-ring seal (6) on the bearing housing. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
Position the bearing housing in pump housing (7). Install bolts (5) finger tight.

Tighten bolts (5) in the numerical sequence shown in illustration 7 to a torque of 50 9 N m (37 7 lb ft).
Use Tooling (H) and measure the gap between impeller (8) and pump housing (7). The minimum gap between impeller (8) and pump housing (7) is 0.20 mm (0.008 inch).
