Location of the RVDC1 burden resistor (4) Terminal block 4 (TB4) (5) RVDC1 burden resistor
At the TB4 terminal block, disconnect the RVDC1 resistor from the A2 and the B2 terminals.
Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the resistor. The resistance should be approximately 150 ohms.
Measure the resistance between the TB4 terminal block B2 terminal and the ground block that is below the terminal blocks. The resistance should be less than 5 ohms.
Leave the RVDC1 resistor disconnected. Expected Result:The resistance of the RVDC1 resistor is approximately 150 ohms. The ground circuit terminal indicates a good continuity to cabinet ground. Results:
OK - The resistance measurements are indicating that the resistor and the ground connection are correct. Proceed to the Test Step 2.
NOT OK - One or both of the resistance measurements is not correct.Repair: Resolve the problem by replacing the resistor or repairing the ground connection as required. Ensure that the resistor and all of the circuit connections are securely connected before checking the status of the diagnostic code.STOPTest Step 2. PERFORM THE POWER TRAIN ELECTRIC DRIVE SYSTEM SERVICE SHUTDOWN PROCEDUREWhen an area that contains high voltage components on the machine must be entered as will be done in the next test step, the Power Train Electrical System Service Shutdown procedure must be performed before the initial removal of any cabinet compartment cover and after the engine has been operated.ReferenceRefer to the Troubleshooting, "Electrical Shutdown and Voltage Discharge" section of this manual. Perform the "Power Train Electrical System Service Shutdown" procedure in order to verify that the voltage in the power train system has been discharged. Once the voltage of the DC bus in the Inverter Dynamic Retarding Contactor compartment is verified as discharged, and a jumper wire is in place, return to this point in this procedure and proceed. Results:
OK - The Power Train Electrical System Service Shutdown procedure has been performed, the voltage is verified as discharged, and the jumper wire is in place. Proceed to the next test step.Test Step 3. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE VOLTAGE SENSOR
In order to test the operation of the DC Power Bus Voltage 1 Sensor, refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Voltage Sensor - Test" section of this manual. The test procedure will provide instruction for testing the operation of the voltage sensor. If the operation of the voltage sensor is correct, return to this procedure and continue from this point in order to check the status of the active diagnostic code.Expected Result:The operation of the voltage sensor has been tested and verified to be correct. Results:
YES - The operation of the voltage sensor is correct. The sensor does not appear to be causing the problem. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NO - The operation of the voltage sensor has not been confirmed to be correct.Repair: In order to verify that the voltage sensor is not causing the problem, refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Voltage Sensor - Test" section of this manual. If further investigation is required after the operation of the sensor
