connection in one of the circuits that measures the high resistance.Repair: A resistance measurement that is between 5 ohms and 5000 ohms could indicate that a circuit is not open but may contain a poor connection. A resistance measurement that is greater than 5000 ohms could indicate that a wire is either not connected or is open.Check each circuit individually in order to isolate the circuit that has the problem.Check the connectors in the circuit in order to determine if there is a connection problem. Verify that there is continuity of the sensor circuits between the ECM and the Inverter Cabinet connector CN1 / CX-C3 and then between this connector and the connector in the rear axle housing. The motor bearing temperature sensor connection diagram at the beginning of this procedure shows all of the circuit connections that are in the Inverter Cabinet. For complete machine harness and connector information in the circuits between the cabinet connectors and the temperature sensor in the rear axle housing, refer to the complete machine electrical system schematic. If any type of damage to the wiring or connectors is found, repair or replace the wiring harness or the connector.STOPTest Step 5. CHECK THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORTThe key start switch and the battery disconnect switch remain in the OFF position. The harness connector for the Motor 1 temperature sensor terminal block enclosure remains disconnected. The J1 harness connector for the Motor 1 remains disconnected.
At the connector in the rear axle housing, remove the jumper wire that was used in the last test step.
At the Motor 2 ECM, disconnect the J1 harness wiring connector from the ECM.
At the Motor 1 ECM harness connector J1, measure the resistance between the sensor positive (+) contact J1-11 (wire RTDM1-3P-BK) and all of the other circuit contacts that are used in the J1 harness connector.
Measure the resistance between the Motor 1 ECM positive (+) contact J1-11 (wire RTDM1-3P-BK) and all of the other circuit contacts that are used in the Motor 2 ECM J1 harness connector.
Repeat this resistance measurement between each of the temperature sensor negative circuits and all of the other circuits that are used in the J1 connectors for the Motor 1 ECM and the Motor 1 ECM.Expected Result:At the ECM J1 connectors, each of the resistance measurements between the temperature sensor circuits and all of the other circuits that are used in both motor control ECM J1 connectors are greater than 4000 ohms. Results:
OK - Each individual resistance measurement is greater than 4000 ohms. The resistance measurements are indicating that the temperature sensor circuits are not shorted to any other circuit that is used in the ECM J1 connectors. Proceed to the Test Step 6.
NOT OK - At least one or more of the resistance measurements between the temperature sensor circuits and another circuit is less than 4000 ohms. The low resistance between the circuits is indicating that there is a short circuit between one of the temperature sensor circuits and another circuit.Repair: Check the
