Remove valve cover base.
Remove electronic unit injector.
Remove accumulator (fuel injection).

Remove bolts (1), bolts (6), and elbow (5).
Remove bolts (2), bolts (3), and air inlet elbow (4).

Use a suitable lifting device to remove cylinder head (7). The weight of cylinder head (7) is approximately 54 kg (119 lb).
Remove bolts (8), bolts (9), cylinder head (7), and the gasket.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Use Tooling (A) to compress valve spring (11).
Remove retainer locks (10).
Release the tension on Tooling (A). Remove Tooling (A).

Remove rotocoil (12), spring (13), spring (14), valve stem seal (15), and valve (16).Note: If valves will be reused, mark the valves for identification upon assembly.Note: Do not reuse rotocoil (12).
Use Tooling (B) to measure the force of the valve springs. Refer to Specifications for the correct spring force.

Use Tooling (C) and a hammer to remove valve guides (17) from the cylinder head.
Repeat Step 5 through Step 10 for remaining valves and guides.

Remove cup plug (18) and cup plugs (19).

Remove cup plugs (20) and cup plugs (21).

Use Tooling (D) to remove valve seat inserts (22) from the cylinder head.Installation Procedure
Install cylinder head (7) in the reverse order of removal.
Lower the temperature of valve seat inserts (22) prior to assembly. Use Tooling (E) to install valve seats (22).
Apply Tooling (F) to cup plugs (21), cup plugs (20), cup plugs (19), and cup plug (18).
Use Tooling (C) to install valve guides (17).The inside diameter of assembled intake valve guides to be 11.042 0.025 mm (0.4347 0.0010 inch) above the surface of the cylinder head. The inside diameter of assembled exhaust valve guide to be 12.619 0.025 mm (0.4968 0.0010 inch) above the surface of the cylinder head .Note: Install valve guides (17) with non-grooved end into the cylinder head.
Coat the stem of valve (16) with clean engine oil.
Install valve (16), valve stem seal (15), spring (14), spring (13), and rotocoil (12).
