Remove the stick cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Stick Cylinder - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Use a suitable lifting device to position the stick cylinder in Tooling (A). The weight of the stick cylinder is approximately 150 kg (331 lb).
Remove lock ring (15) from cylinder assembly (1) and from head (17) .
Use Tooling (C) to unscrew head (17) from cylinder assembly (1) .
Use Tooling (A) to position cylinder assembly (1) away from rod assembly (18) and head (17) .
Remove ring (3), seal assembly (4), and rings (5) and (6) from piston (7) .
Remove rings (19) and (20), stop (21), and retaining rings (22) from the end of rod assembly (18) .
Use Tooling (B) to remove locknut (2) that holds piston (3) to rod assembly (18) .
Remove piston (3) from rod assembly (18) .
Remove stop (9) and ring (8) from rod assembly (18) .
Slide cylinder assembly (1) onto rod assembly (18) and head (17). Tighten head (17). Remove cylinder assembly (1) and head (17) as a unit from rod assembly (18). Remove head (17) from cylinder assembly (1) .
Remove O-ring seal (10), backup ring (11), retaining ring (12), sleeve bearing (23), buffer seal (24), U-cup seal (25), backup ring (26), and wiper seal (27) from head (17) .
Remove the lip seals from both sides of cylinder assembly (1) and from both sides of rod assembly (18) .
Remove the bearing from the pin bores in cylinder assembly (1) and in rod assembly (18) .
