Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the valve mechanism cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.Spring force will be released when covers are removed.Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.
Remove bolts (12) and remove the assembly of cover (13), spring (14) and diaphragm (15). Note the orientation of cover (13).
Remove spring (14) and diaphragm (15) from cover (13).
If necessary, follow Step 3.a through Step 3.b in order to remove the gauze for the breather.
Remove screws (18) and carefully remove baffle plate (19).
Remove gauze (16) from valve mechanism cover (17). Installation Procedure

Make sure that the components of the breather assembly are installed correctly. Engine damage may occur if the breather assembly is not working properly.

Clean all parts and inspect all parts. Replace any parts that are worn or damaged. Ensure that the cavity for the breather in the valve mechanism cover is clean. Ensure that the vent hole in Position (X) and the vent hole in cover (13) are free from restriction.
If necessary, follow Step 2.a through Step 2.c in order to install the gauze for the breather.
Install gauze (16) to valve mechanism cover (17).
Position baffle plate (19) on valve mechanism cover (17) and install screws (18).
Tighten screws (18) to a torque of 1.5 N m (13 lb in).
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Install diaphragm (15) and spring (14) to cover (17).
Position the assembly of cover (13), spring (14) and diaphragm (15) onto valve mechanism cover (17). Note: Ensure the correct orientation of the cover.
Install bolts (12). Use Tooling (A) in order to tighten bolts to a torque of 3 N m (27 lb in).
