KIT-DT BEARING 2591031 - Caterpillar

1. Remove four bolts (1) and access panel (2) from the left side of the machine. Open access door (3). The 977L does not have a step on the left side of the machine. 2. Remove step (5) and plate assembly (4) from the left side of the machine.3. Remove the four bolts and washers that hold cover assembly (8) to the transmission control lever console. Remove cover assembly (8). 4. Remove governor control lever knob (6) and transmission control lever knob (7). 5. Remove the four screws that hold guide (9) in place. Remove guide (9). 6. Remove nut (11) and disconnect lower end of rod (10) from the lever assembly. 7. Remove the bolts that hold cover assembly (12) in position. Remove cover assembly (12). 8. Remove rod (10) from lever (13).9. Remove the knob from lever (13). 10. Remove the cotter pin and pin (14) to remove lever (13) and the washers from cover assembly (12). 11. Disconnect governor control linkage (15) and transmission control linkage (16) from the levers. 12. Loosen the bolts and lockwashers that hold levers (17) and (18) on the transmission and governor control lever assemblies. 13. Remove governor control lever assembly (19). While governor control lever assembly (19) is removed, remove lever (17) and the wave washer. When the transmission and governor control lever assemblies are removed, levers (17) and (18) are free to fall.14. Remove spring (20). Remove bolts (21) and bracket (22). 15. Remove transmission control lever assembly (23). While transmission control lever assembly (23) is removed, remove lever (18). Remove the key from the transmission control lever assembly shaft. 16. If necessary, use tool group (A) to remove bearing (24), the bushing behind bearing (24) and bearing (25). 17. Remove bolts (27) to dosconnect the transmission control linkage from control lever (26). Remove control lever (26), the spring and seal from the bottom of the cab.Install Transmission And Governor Control Linkage
1. Make sure the spring and seal are in position on the transmission control lever (1). Install lever (1) from the bottom of the cab.2. Install the two bolts to hold the transmission control linkage and lever (1) together. 3. Install plate assembly (2) on the left side of the machine. The 977L does not have a step on the left side of the machine. 4. Install step (3) on the left side of the machine. 5. Install the bushing and bearing (4) and the bearing for the transmission control lever lock with tooling (A). 6. Put governor control lever assembly (5) in position in the console. While the governor control lever assembly is put into position, put the wave washer and lever (7) in place from behind the console. Pull the governor control lever assembly in high idle position. Lever (7) must be installed 107° between the centerlines of the lever assembly and the lever. Push lever (7) on the governor control lever assembly until the wave washer is under compression.
