Possible cause for this event:
The wire harness has failed
The camera set/scrool switch has failedTest Step 1. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE SET/SCROLL SWITCH
For the set/scroll switch use a multimeter.
Measure the voltage from the contacts to contact J2-22. With the set/scroll switch in the neutral position, 50% Duty Cycle (Center PWM) in voltage should be around ~5V.Note: There is no spec for tolerance in voltage since the PWM is calibrated to the voltage. So the PWM takes precedent over the voltage.
Move the set/scroll switch through the range slowly and smoothly.
Measure the voltage. The voltage should vary smoothly through the range from ~5V to ~8V in one direction with a tolerance of 3% (8.25V for the high). The upper range should be around ~8v.
Measure the voltage. The voltage should vary smoothly through the range from ~5V to ~2.5V in the other direction with a tolerance of 3% (2.4V for the low). The lower range should be around ~2.5v.Note: Normal errors on the ECM are Voltage High/Low. Low would be less than 2.4V (the tolerance is 3%) and the high would be greater than 8.25V. Typically the failure will be either 0V (low) or 10V (high).Expected Result:The voltage varies smoothly through the range.Results:
YES. - The voltage varies smoothly through the range. The switch is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NO. - The voltage does not vary smoothly through the range. The switch has failed.Repair: The switch has failed. Replace the switch. Verify that the new switch has corrected the problem before operating the machine.STOPTest Step 2. TROUBLESHOOT THE CAMERA
Turn the keyswitch to the ON position.
Disconnect the camera from the rear of the machine.
Disconnect the camera harness on the secondary display from the machine harness.
Connect the camera directly to the camera harness and the back of the secondary display.
View the Camera Screen on the secondary display.Expected Result:The camera operates properly.Results:
YES. - The camera operates properly. The machine wiring harness has failed.Repair: Repair or replace the wiring harness.STOP
NO. - The fault remains. The camera has failed.Repair: Replace the camera.STOP
