Schematic of the "Primary Steering Pressure" sensorThis diagnostic code is associated with the Primary Steering Pressure sensor. The FMI 04 diagnostic code indicates that the electronic control module (ECM) has detected the sensor signal voltage as being below normal.The pressure sensor sends a variable frequency signal to the ECM in order to indicate the pressure in the primary steering system.The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The signal circuit for the sensor is shorted to ground.
The sensor has failed.
The Chassis ECM has failed. A failure of the ECM is unlikely. Note: Check to see if an active CID 0041 diagnostic code for the 8 VDC sensor power supply exists before performing this procedure. If an active CID 0041 diagnostic code is present, correct the problem and clear the diagnostic code before performing this procedure.Note: Ensure that CID 2470 FMI 04 diagnostic code is active. This procedure can cause new diagnostic codes to be recorded. Ignore these created diagnostic codes. When the problem has been corrected, clear the created diagnostic codes.Test Step 1.
