(1) Pressure Reducing ValveNote: Prior to testing the pressure reducing valve, make sure that the pilot pressure is within the specification. See Specifications, Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Pilot) - Test and Adjust" in this publication.
At outlet port (E) of pressure reducing valve (1), disconnect hose (2), and install tooling (A) between hose (2) and the elbow on pressure reducing valve (1). Connect tooling (B) to fitting (A3). Ensure that all of the connections are tight.
Start the engine and run the engine at HIGH IDLE. When the engine is running, the pilot supply pressure in outlet port (E) is the same pressure as the pilot circuit. Inlet pressure from the pilot pump is set at 2400 50 kPa (348 7 psi).
Raise the bucket in the air. Then, return the lift control lever to the HOLD position. Also, ensure that the tilt control lever is in the HOLD position. Shut off the engine.
Lower the bucket for a short distance, and make sure that the pressure reducing valve does not contain the higher pilot pressure that may be trapped. Precisely when the lever is returned to the HOLD position, check the pressure at outlet port (E) on tooling (B). The pressure should be 1350 100 kPa (195 15 psi). Record the pressure reading.Pressure ____________________
If the pressure on tooling (B) is within tolerance, remove the tooling. Install the elbow on pressure reducing valve (1). The test is complete.
If the pressure on tooling (B) is not in tolerance, go to Step 1 in "Adjustment Procedure".Adjustment Procedure
Make sure that the engine is off.
If pressure reducing valve (1) needs adjustment, lower the bucket to the ground. Move all control levers to all positions in order to release any pressure that is trapped in the hydraulic lines. Slowly remove the filler cap on the hydraulic tank in order to relieve any tank pressure. Then, tighten the filler cap.
