D     5P-0960     Grease Cartridge     1    Note: Make sure that the pin bores in the stick and in the boom are thoroughly clean and free of dirt and debris prior to the installation of the stick on the boom.
Apply a thin coat of Tooling (D) on the sleeve bearings and on the lips of lip seals.

(B) Boom (S) Stick
Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to stick (8). The weight of stick (8) is approximately 735 kg (1620 lb). Use Tooling (C) and the suitable lifting device in order to align the pin bores of stick (8) with the pin bores of the boom.
Install a shim (10) (not shown) on each side of the boom between the boom and stick (8) at the pin bore.
Force stick (8) to one side of the boom. Measure the total clearance between stick (8) and the boom. Install the required shims.
Attach a suitable lifting device to pin assembly (9). The weight of pin assembly (9) is approximately 26 kg (57 lb). Use the suitable lifting device in order to install pin assembly (9) .
Measure the total clearance between stick (8) and the boom at the pin bore. The total clearance is Dimension (X) plus Dimension (Y). The total clearance must not be more than 0.8 mm (0.03 inch). If the total clearance is less than 0.8 mm (0.03 inch), the addition of shims will not be necessary. If the total clearance is more than 0.8 mm (0.03 inch), the addition of shims will be required.
If shims (10) (not shown) are required, remove pin assembly (9). Install the required amount of shims (10) (not shown) between stick (8) and the boom on the side opposite of the retaining bolt. Install pin assembly (9) .

Extend stick cylinder (4) until the pin bore aligns with the pin bores in the stick. Install shims (7) (not shown) on each side of stick cylinder (4) at the pin bore in order to attain a lateral clearance of no more than 1.0 mm (0.04 inch).
Install spacer (6) and pin assembly (5) .

Remove Tooling (B) that secures stick cylinder (4) to boom (1) .
Release the system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release".

Connect fittings (3) and hose assemblies (2) .End By:
Install the heel cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Heel Cylinder - Remove and Install".
Install the heel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Heel - Install".
Install the grapple. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Grapple - Install".
