Remove the jib boom. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Grapple Jib Boom - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly in order to relieve pressure.
Note: Mark all components for correct installation. When you disconnect the hoses, cap the hoses in order to keep the system clean.

Remove bolts (2) from belly guard (1) to the saddle assembly. Use tool (A) to remove belly guard (1) .

Attach a nylon lifting strap and a suitable lifting device to main boom (3) .

Disconnect the following hydraulic hose assemblies: (4), (5), (6) and (7) .

Disconnect hydraulic hose assemblies (8) and (9) .
Remove four bolts (10) that are holding valve body (11) to saddle assembly.

Disconnect hydraulic hose assemblies (12) from valve body (11) .

Remove the bolt and retainer (13). Remove main boom cylinder pin (14) .

Remove the bolt and retainer (15). Remove main boom pin (16) and the shims. Remove main boom (3). Weight of main boom is 680 kg (1500 lb).
