View of transmission compartment (5) Transmission gear position sensor (behind cover)With the battery disconnect switch in the ON position, 24 volt power is supplied from the batteries via circuit breaker #1 to Power Train/Chassis ECM (1) .With the key start switch in the ON position, 24 volt power is supplied from the batteries via circuit breaker #11 to Caterpillar Monitoring System (2). 24 volt power is also supplied from the batteries via circuit breaker #13 to Power Train/Chassis ECM (1) and transmission gear position sensor (5) .Power Train/Chassis ECM (1) receives a signal from transmission gear position sensor (5) for the gear that is currently selected. The signal is sent to Caterpillar Monitoring System (2) via the CAT Data Link to speedometer/tachometer module (3). Speedometer/tachometer module (3) will display the actual gear in the display window. Actual gear indicator (4) displays the gear which is currently selected by the transmission.Reference: For more information on the actual gear indicator system, refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Caterpillar Monitoring System".
