Personal injury or death can result from a parking brake malfunction. Do not operate the machine if the parking brake does not function correctly.Be sure the parking brake components are adjusted correctly before attempting to return the machine to service.
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.Prevent possible injury by performing the procedure that follows before working on the machine.
Machine Preparation
Prepare the machine for testing by completing the procedure that is specified in the Service Manual module Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" for the machine that is being serviced.
Park the machine on a smooth, level surface.
Move the machine away from working machines and personnel.
Lower the blade to the ground.
Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all other personnel away from the machine. Keep all the personnel in the view of the operator.
Engage the parking brake. Place blocks in front of the wheels and place blocks behind the wheels.
Install the steering frame lock.Adjusting Procedure

Park the machine on a dry, level surface. Block the wheels securely in order to prevent movement of the machine when the parking brake is released.
Start the engine. Allow the hydraulic oil to reach normal operating pressure.
Push the parking brake control knob inward in order to release the parking brake.
Remove cotter pin (4) and clevis pin (5) from clevis assembly (11) .
Use the access hole on the frame plate in order to insert a 0.5 mm (.02 inch) feeler gauge between parking brake shoe lining (6) and brake drum (8). Rotate starwheel (7) until there is a snug fit between the brake shoe lining, the feeler gauge, and the brake drum.
The parking brake control knob should be in the engaged position. Actuator shaft (2) should be retracted. Loosen clevis locknut (3). Turn clevis assembly (11) in order to obtain dimension (A). Dimension (A) equals 87 mm (3.43 inch).
Apply Pressure to the actuator to a minimum of 14830 kPa (2150 psi).
Manually rotate and hold lever (12) toward parking brake actuator (1) in order to take up slack between camshaft (10) and brake shoe lining (6) .
Rotate lever (12) on camshaft (10) in order to align the holes for clevis pin (5). Install clevis pin (5) .
Install cotter pin (4) into clevis pin (5) .
Pull the parking brake knob outward. This will engage the parking brake by releasing the hydraulic oil pressure in parking brake actuator
