1. Stand the pump on end and loosen all body bolts. Remove the flange.

FIG. 23. Lay the flange on the open jaws of a vise (pilot down). Using a punch and a mallet, tap the old seal out of the bore. Drive the seal straight out by moving the punch around the seal as it is driven out. Fig. 2.
Exercise extreme care not to scar the seal bore in the flange.
4. Place a clean block of wood between the rear jaw of the vise and the flange. Place the seal in position at the bore of the flange. The rubber lip of the seal should point toward the rear of the pump so that the garter spring is inside. Fig. 3.

FIG. 45. Place the seal press ring in position against the seal, taking care that it is properly centered.6. Tighten the vise gently, and press the seal into the bore. Fig. 4. Stop tightening when the seal touches the shoulder inside the bore.7. Replace the snap ring, ensuring that it is properly seated in the groove.8. Hone the rear side of the flange smooth, moving the hone in a circular motion. Wash the flange thoroughly with solvent. Coat the lips of the seal with a heavy grease.9. Replace the O-ring in the body. Use grease as a retainer if necessary.10. Replace the flange on the body, taking care not to damage the lip of the seal or dislodge the O-ring.11. Lubricate and insert the body bolts and torque to 80 to 90 lb. ft. (11.1 to 12.4 mkg).
