Removal Procedure
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Reference: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Releasure".Note: You need to remove a cover that encloses the two bolts (2). Push in the middle of the cover in order to remove the cover.

Remove two bolts (2). Remove cover (1) from the right console.

Put identification marks on the two connectors (4) that are connected to the horn switch for installation purposes. Disconnect the connectors (4).
Remove the boot (3).

In order to maintain the correct height of cam (7), do not loosen nut (6) from cam (7).
Remove the cam and the control lever as one unit.
Remove three bolts (5) that hold the pilot control valve in the console.
Put identification marks on the six hoses that are connected to the control valves for installation purposes.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Oil will drain from the hoses when the hoses are disconnected from the pilot control valve. Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
Remove pilot control valve (8) from the console.
Disconnect the six hoses from the valve. Put plugs in the ends of the hoses in order to prevent oil loss and keep contaminants out of the hydraulic system.
Remove the pilot control valve (8). Installation Procedure
Check the condition of the O-ring seals. If the seals are damaged, use new parts for replacement.
Remove the plugs from the ends of the six hoses.
Place the pilot control valve in position.
Connect the six hoses. Tighten the six hoses to a torque of 40 5 N m (30 4 lb ft).

Position pilot control valve (8) in the console. Install three bolts (5) that hold the pilot control valve (8) in the console.
Install the cam (7) and the control lever.

Install boot (3).
Connect the connectors (4).

Install cover (1) to the right console. Install two bolts (2).
Reinstall the cover that encloses the two bolts (2).
Check the oil level in the hydraulic tank. Fill the hydraulic oil tank with oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check", Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacitites".
