Illustration 1 g06122261Two sleeves are required per cylinder head. Refer to Illustration 1 for the location of these 2 sleeves. The sleeve prevents contact between the shank of the bolt and the inner diameter of the head bolt hole.

The chamfer on the sleeve should be placed downward to aid installation into cylinder head bolt hole. The sleeves should be installed flush with the top of the cylinder head. A plastic hammer can be used to lightly tap the sleeve into place.Serviceable cylinder head assemblies will begin being assembled with the sleeves installed.
