This diagnostic code is recorded when a valid harness code is not received from the VIMS ECM.The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed:
The data link wire between the power train ECM and the VIDS/VIMS main module has failed.
The VIDS/VIMS main module has failed.Test Step 1. CHECK THE ATTACHMENT CODE.Service Program Code:288224 (ATTACH)This service program allows the operator to configure the attachment code for the 992G Wheel Loader or the 854G Wheel Dozer.
Ensure that the correct attachment code is entered into the service program.
Enter "ATTACH" on the VIDS/VIMS keypad.
Enter "OK" on the VIDS/VIMS keypad.
The VIDS/VIMS MESSAGE DISPLAY will prompt you to enter the "ATTACH" codes.
Enter the attachment code and press "OK" on the keypad.Note: The correct attachment must be entered twice on the keypad in order to be accepted. The power train ECM may log a CID 0650 FMI 02 code shortly after the attachment code has been entered. The new code indicates that the attachment code has changed.

NO - The software is NOT compatible.Repair: Install the correct software. If any module has been replaced, ensure that the correct part number was used. Stop.Test Step 3. INSPECT THE HARNESS CONNECTIONS.
Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Inspect all harness connections that are related to the CAT data link. Make sure that the connectors are clean and tight.
Check the connectors for proper mating.
Check the wires at the connector.
Check each wire for nicks or signs of abrasion in the insulation.
Check for moisture at the connector.
Check the connectors for dirty contacts or corroded contacts.
Check each pin and each socket of the machine harness connectors. Expected Result:The machine harness connectors are tight and free of corrosion. Results:
