Which Generate This Code:The Generator, CID 3041 diagnostic code is associated the Generator ECM 12 V power supply. The Generator ECM 12 V power supply is not used in this application.The contact for the 12 V power supply is at J1-43.The FMI 4 diagnostic code is activated when the Generator ECM detects that the voltage of the 12 V power supply circuit is below normal.The power supply is not used in this application. It is not likely that this diagnostic code will be activated, however, if the diagnostic code is activated by the Generator ECM, the following conditions could be the cause:
Dirt or moisture in the ECM connector has caused a short circuit.
Another circuit has incorrectly been connected to the power supply contact.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.This procedure should not require entry into any enclosures that contain hazardous voltage components and should not require any hazardous voltage connections to be disconnected.When an area that contains hazardous voltage components must be entered for a service procedure, the "Safe Shutdown Procedure for Electric Drive Tractors" procedure must be performed before any enclosures that contain hazardous voltage components are opened or before any hazardous voltage connectors are disconnected. Refer to the Troubleshooting, "Electrical Maintenance Guidelines" section of this manual. Perform the "Safe Shutdown Procedure for Electric Drive Tractors" procedure before any of the hazardous voltage areas are opened or before hazardous voltage connectors are disconnected.Note: The following test procedure may cause other diagnostic codes to be activated. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the problem has been corrected.Test Step 1. CHECK THE ECM CONNECTOR
Turn the key switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector J1 from the Generator ECM.
Inspect the J1 harness connector and clean all of the contacts of the harness connector. Ensure that the wires and sockets are secured in the connector. Ensure that the contacts are clean, dry and in good condition.
Examine the pins on the Generator ECM J1 connector. Ensure that none of the pins are bent or broken. Ensure that the pins are clean, dry and in good condition.
Verify that there is no circuit connected at the J1-43 power supply contact.Expected Result:The harness connector J1 for the Generator ECM and the Generator ECM connector are clean, dry and in good condition. there are no circuits connected at the J1-43 power supply contact.Results:
OK - The harness connector J1 for the Generator ECM and the Generator ECM connector are clean, dry and in good condition. No circuits are connected in the power supply contact. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The harness connector J1 for the Generator ECM and the Generator ECM connector are not in good condition or there is a circuit connected at the power supply contact.Repair: Clean the contacts on the J1 connector for the Generator ECM. Clean the contacts of the ECM J1 connector. ensure that the contacts are dry. Remove any circuits that are connected at the ECM power supply
