Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.

Remove locknuts (1), the spacers, and the washers. Remove exhaust manifolds (2) and the gaskets.Installation Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Install the gaskets for the exhaust manifolds. The tab should face upward.
Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound to the threads of locknuts (1) and to the bearing surface of exhaust manifolds (2) .
Position exhaust manifolds (2) and the gaskets in the original location. Install locknuts (1), the spacers, and the washers. Tighten locknuts (1) to 35 5 N m (26 4 lb ft).End By: Install the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
