Instructions for Cleaning the Autolube Vent

Vent valve assembly. (1) Cylinder. (2) Needle. (3) Packing. (4) Valve Seat. (5) Valve Body.
Use the following tools to perform the cleaning procedure.
A set of open end wrenches (7/16 inch) to (1.5 inch)
(24 inch) Adjustable wrench
(10 inch) Adjustable wrench
A mounted vise
Turn off the hydraulic oil supply and disconnect the hydraulic oil supply lines from the pump assembly.
Remove the delivery hose, the vent hose and the hydraulic supply hose.
Remove all mounting hardware and remove the vent valve assembly from the pump.
Hold the valve body (5) in a bench vise at the machined flat areas that are located at the base of the valve body.
Remove the cylinder (1) .
Remove the packing (3) .
Inspect the valve needle (2) and the valve seat (4) for debris that may be present. Clean the valve seat and clean the needle valve thoroughly with a solvent if debris is present. Check the parts for wear or damage. If damage is present replace the vent valve 197-1563 Vent Valve As .
Reassemble the vent valve assembly. Apply a thin coat of grease to the needle and the inside diameter of the cylinder to aid in the assembly procedure. Reassemble the vent valve assembly by reversing steps 2 through 8 and proceed to step10.
Tighten the valve seat into the valve body and torque to 35 N m (26 lb ft). Tighten the cylinder onto the valve body to a torque of 135 N m (100 lb ft).
