Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Intermittent leakage of a small amount of coolant from the weep hole is not an indication of water pump seal failure. Seepage is normal to ensure proper lubrication of the face of the water pump seal. Replace the water pump if excessive leakage is observed from the weep hole in the water pump housing.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Remove bolts (3) and the plate from elbow (1) . Remove tube (2) from the elbow.
Remove bonnet (5) from water pump (4) .

Remove hose (6) .
Remove cover (7) .Note: Check the condition of the O-ring seals. If the O-ring seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Remove cover (8) and the water pump.
Remove the O-ring seal from the water pump.
