Removal Procedure
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses for installation purposes. Plug all hoses. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.

Fuel valve (1) is located under the fuel tank. Close fuel valve (1) .

Open cover (2) in order to access the water separator.

Drain the water separator into a suitable container. Rotate ring (6) in order to remove water separator (8). Disconnect hose assemblies (4). Disconnect hose assembly (7). Remove bolts (3). Remove water separator base (5) .Installation Procedure
