Investigate the travel route for overpass clearances. Make sure there will be adequate clearance if the machine being transported is equipped with a ROPS, cab or canopy.To prevent the machine from slipping while loading, or shifting in transit, remove ice, snow or other slippery material from the loading dock and the truck bed before loading.
Obey all state and local laws governing the weight, width and length of a load.Observe all regulations governing wide loads.
1. Block the trailer or rail car wheels before loading (trailer shown). 2. After the machine is in position, connect the steering frame lock pin to hold the front and rear frames rigid. 3. Lower leveling blade. 4. Engage the parking brake.5. Stop the engine.6. Turn the start key switch to OFF and remove the key.7. Inflate tires to 138 kPa (20 psi) for shipping.Machine Roading
Before roading a machine, consult your tire dealer for recommended tire pressures and speed limitations. Inflate the tires to the correct pressure."TON km/h" (TON MPH) limitations must be observed. Consult your tire dealer for the speed limit of the tires involved.When traveling long distances, stop every 40 km (25 miles) or 1 hour for 30 minutes to allow the tires and components to cool.Use a self-attaching inflation chuck and stand behind the tire tread while inflating the tire. See "Tire Inflation Information." Perform a "Walk-Around Inspection" and measure the fluid levels in the various compartments.Check with the proper officials to obtain the required permits, etc.Travel at a moderate speed. Improper lifting or tiedowns can allow load to shift and cause injury or damage.
1. Weight and instructions given herein apply to units manufactured by Caterpillar Inc.CS-563 10 760 kg (23,700 lb)CP-563 11 123 kg (24,500 lb) 2. Place the steering frame lock pin in the locked position.3. Use proper rated cables and slings for lifting. Position crane for level machine lift.4. Spreader bar widths should be sufficient to prevent contact with machine. 5. Attach rear lifting cables to the lifting eyes. 6. Attach front lifting hooks to the right and left lifting holes.7. Connect these four lifting cables to lifting cable over the center of the machine. 8. When the machine is in location on a rail car or a tractor-trailer, block front and rear of drum. 9. Support drum yoke on each side with 10.16 cm × 15.24 cm × 35.56 cm (4 in × 6 in × 14 in) blocks. 10.
