Mount air compressor (1) in a bench vise.
Install air compressor drive gear (2) on the air compressor.
Install washer (3) and nut (4).
Install Tooling (A) on the air compressor drive gear.
Install nut (4).
For an air compressor with a tapered shaft tighten nut (4) to a torque of 160 15 N m (118 11 lb ft). Tap air compressor drive gear (2) axially one time with a suitable hammer. Retorque nut (4) to a torque of 160 15 N m (118 11 lb ft).
For an air compressor with a straight shaft tighten nut (4) to a torque of 460 60 N m (340 44 lb ft).End By:
Install the air compressor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Compressor - Remove and Install".
