Install spring guides (8) and springs (7) to the brake piston.
Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to compress springs (7).
Install retaining pins (9) to spring guides (8), as shown. Note: Follow Steps 9 through 12 for the assembly of the spindle assembly.

Apply clean oil to three brake discs (6). Install brake plates (5) and three brake discs (6) in the spindle assembly in alternating order. Start with a brake plate.

Align the teeth of three brake discs (6) and install hub (4) in spindle assembly (1).

Install retaining ring (3) in spindle assembly (1).

B 4C-9507 Retaining Compound 1 The service brake wear indicator must be installed into the correct location of the brake piston. If the service brake wear indicator was removed, use the following procedure in order to correctly install the service brake wear indicator.

Dowel locations. The current view shows the dowel in the "RF/LR" location.
Locate the correct position on the piston in order to install the service brake wear indicator. The piston housing has identification marks that indicate the placement of the indicator pin. The identification marks are "RF/LR" and "LF/RR". Install the indicator pin in the appropriate location. "RF/LR" - The identification mark on the piston housing for installation in the right front service brake or installation in the left rear service brake."LF/RR" - The identification mark on the piston housing for installation in the left front service brake or installation in the right rear service brake.

Place the washer (1) on the head of the pin. Install retaining ring (3) in order to hold the pin and the washer to the piston.
Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of the dowel.

Thread the dowel into the piston housing until 7.25 0.25 mm (0.285 0.010 inch) of indicator pin (10) protrudes past dowel (9). See length (B) of Illustration 16 for reference. The amount of pin that is exposed is critical to correctly determine when the brake disc life has been exceeded. Note: The piston must be fully retracted into the piston housing in order to set the correct dowel length.End By:
