Control PanelThe control panel is located in the side of the generator terminal box of a Caterpillar standby package generator set.The control panel has a multicharacter model number located on the nameplate on the subpan or on the rear of the instrument panel. The model number of the control panel is based on panel options and generator ratings and is defined by the following charts.1. An "M" as the first character of the model number indicates that the control panel is an electronic modular type for mounting in the side of the generator terminal box.2. The second character of the model number indicates the generator frame size.
Model Number (Second Character)3. The third character of the model number specifies the generator AC operating voltage and resulting AC meter module voltmeter scale selection.
Model Number (Third Character)4. The fourth character of the model number specifies the ammeter scale selection (switch S1 setting) and current transformer, based on generator output voltage and kW.
Model Number (Fourth Character)5. The fifth character of the model number specifies the package generator set on which the panel will be installed and some engine control module settings. Always check print 9Y1400 that is included with the generator set for correct settings. 6. The sixth character of the model number specifies the type of engine fuel control solenoid.
Model Number (Sixth Character)7. The seventh character of the model number specifies the number of teeth on the flywheel of the generator set that the control panel will be installed on. It is important that the correct number of teeth be programmed into the engine control module to assure proper operation.
Model Number (Seventh Character)8. The eighth character of the model number specifies the rated speed at which the generator set will operate. 9. The ninth character of the model number specifies the control panel mounted governor options, if required.
Model Number (Ninth Character)10. The tenth character of the model number specifies the alarm modules option, if required.
Model Number (Tenth Character)11. The eleventh character of the model number specifies the auxiliary relay option, if required.
Model Number (Eleventh Character)12. The twelfth character of the model number specifies the optional panel illumination light group, if required.
Model Number (Twelfth Character)13. The thirteenth character of the model number specifies the voltage regulator options, if required.
Model Number (Thirteenth Character)14. The fourteenth character of the model number specifies the emergency stop pushbutton option, if required.
Model Number (Fourteenth Character)15. The fifteenth character of the model number specifies the units used in displaying oil pressure and coolant temperature on the engine control module.
Model Number (Fifteenth Character)16. The sixteenth character of the model number specifies the code letter for the control panel assembler. This identification is for factor use.
