KIT-VALVE 3791002 - Caterpillar

Always wear goggles when working on air conditioning systems. The system is under pressure at all times, engine running or not. Escaping Freon-12 (CCI2F2 Dichlorodifluoromethane) can cause freezing of human flesh.Do not smoke while working on air conditioning systems. INHALING FREON-12 THROUGH ANY SMOKING MATERIAL, ALTHOUGH NOT TOXIC OR FLAMMABLE, CAN GENERATE LETHAL PHOSGENE GAS AND CAUSE VIOLENT ILLNESS OR DEATH. ALSO, HEAT MUST NEVER BE APPLIED TO A CHARGED SYSTEM. See Air Conditioning And Heating Service Manual, Form No. SENR3334, for more information on removal and installation of lines and refrigerant from the system.
1. Remove cover (1) and the air filter from in front of the cab.2. Remove the three bolts, one at the top and two under the hood, and panel (2). 3. Carefully, pull thermostat tube (3) out of the evaporator core, and move it out of the way. Make sure it does not get pinched or damaged.4. Remove the four bolts and plate (4). 5. Remove the four bolts and cover (5).6. Loosen the two heater hose clamps, and disconnect heater hoses (6) from the core.
Put plugs or caps on all air conditioning lines or openings to prevent foreign material and moisture from entering the system.
7. Make sure the pressure has been released from the air conditioning system. Disconnect hose (7) from the expansion valve.8. Disconnect hose (12) from evaporator core (9).9. Remove the bolt on each side of the evaporator core, and remove core (9).10. Remove two screws (11), two bolts (10), and bracket (13), and remove heater core (8). The following steps are for installation of the evaporator core and heater core.11. Put heater core (8) in position, and install bracket (13), bolts (10), screws (11).12. Install evaporator core (9), and connect hose (12) to the core and hose (7) to the expansion valve.13. Connect heater hoses (6) to the heater core. Install cover (5).14. Install plate (4). Make sure the grommet is in position, and put thermostat tube (3) into its original position in the center of evaporator core (9).15. Install panel (2), the air filter, and cover (1). Make sure the seal under the air filter is not damaged or loose.16. See Air Conditioning And Heating Service Manual, Form No. SENR3334, for the proper procedures, and install (charge) 2.0 Kg. (4.375 lb.) of refrigerant into the system.
