KIT-TORQUE CONVERTER GASKET 3838925 - Caterpillar

Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Remove bolt (1). Remove hose clamp (2).

Remove three hydraulic hoses (3), (4) and (5) .

Loosen bolt (6) on the top of quick coupler (9) .
Remove snap ring (7) with Tooling (B). Remove washer (8) and the shim from the upper shaft.

Attach a nylon strap and a suitable lifting device to the top of quick coupler (9). The weight of quick coupler (9) is 50 kg (110 lb).

Loosen bolt (10).
Use tool (B) in order to remove snap ring (11). Remove washer (12) and the shim from the lower shaft. Remove quick coupler (9) .

Attach a nylon strap and a lifting device to tilt link (13). The nylon strap will prevent injury when the remaining quick coupler is removed.
Repeat steps 1 through 7 in order to remove the quick coupler on the opposite side of the machine.Installation Procedure

Attach a nylon strap and a lifting device on quick coupler (9). Install quick coupler (9) in position on the machine.

Install quick coupler (9) on the lower shaft. The weight of the quick coupler is 50 kg (110 lb). Install the shim. Install washer (12). Use Tool (B) in order to install snap ring (11) .Note: Quick coupler (9) will only fit on the shaft in one manner. The shaft has a flat lobe on the top and the bottom. Quick coupler (9) has a corresponding shape.Note: Install the shims. Obtain a maximum gap of 0.25 mm (0.0098 inch). Equalize the shims on both sides.
Tighten bolt (10) .

Install quick coupler (9) on the upper shaft. The weight of the quick coupler is 50 kg (110 lb). Install the shim. Install washer (8). Use tool (B) in order to install snap ring (7) .
Tighten bolt (6) .

Install three hydraulic hoses (5), (4) and (3) .

Install hose clamp (2). Secure hose clamp (2) with bolt (1) .
Repeat steps 1 through 8 in order to install the quick coupler on the opposite side of the machine.
Remove Tool (A) from the boom. Lower the boom.End By: Start the engine. Purge all air from the hydraulic system. Check the fluid level in the hydraulic tank.
