Location Of Governor Control Valve For The Scraper EngineWhen the pedal is pushed down fully, retainer (2) puts spring (3) in compression. The pressure air in delivery passage (9) will now have to become approximately system air pressure before springs (8) and (10) can move valve (6) and piston (4) up to close supply passage (12).If the pedal is lifted a small amount, the mechanical force above piston (4) is less. The pressure air in delivery passage (9) and the force of spring (8) will lift the piston off of valve (6). Pressure air in the line to the air chamber goes around valve (6) through passage (7) to exhaust passage (5) until the force above and below the piston are in balance. When the pedal is fully released, piston (4) moves off of valve (6). This lets all of the pressure air out of the delivery passage.Double Check Valve For Scraper Engine Air Chamber 657E
This double check valve sends air pressure to the air chamber for the scraper engine governor control. When the governor control pedal for the scraper engine is pushed, air pressure from the governor control valve goes to inlet passage (1). There is no pressure at inlet passage (3) so shuttle (2) moves to the right. Air pressure now goes through outlet passage (4) to active the air chamber for the scraper engine governor.

(1) Inlet passage from scraper governor control valve. (2) Shuttle. (3) Inlet passage from throttle lock control valve. (4) Outlet passage to scraper engine air chamber.When the governor control pedal for the scraper engine is released and the throttle lock control valve is activated (pushed in), air pressure goes through inlet passage (3). There is no air pressure at inlet passage (4) so shuttle (2) moves back to the left. Air pressure again goes through outlet passage (4) and moves the air chamber for the scraper engine governor to high idle position.

Air Chamber
(1) Inlet passage. (2) Diaphragm. (3) Rod assembly. (4) Spring.The air chamber that controls the scraper engine governor is fastened directly to the scraper engine. Rod assembly (3) is connected through a rod end to the lever on the governor. Pressure air from the scraper governor control valve on the tractor goes through inlet passage (1) to the top of diaphragm (2). The pressure air moves the diaphragm and rod assembly (3) against the force of spring (4). As the rod assembly moves out of the air chamber, the lever on the governor moves to the HIGH IDLE position.When pressure air is released through the scraper governor control valve, spring (4) will move the rod assembly back into the air chamber. The governor lever will move to the LOW IDLE position. The amount of pressure air from the scraper governor control valve to the inlet passage of the air chamber controls the governor lever by the position of the rod assembly.Button Control
